Going Gray...

My beloved husband has removed more than one "really blond" hair from my head this year (what a way to ruin a date atmosphere not to mention my mood). I don't know how I feel about this. Ok, I do know how I feel about this and I am obviously upset or I would not be blogging about it. I have always said that I would just go gray gracefully... but that was before it was actually here in front of me. I have always loved long gray hair on women but older women... not... you know cute little youthful me!!! What is a girl to do? For the record I have never dyed or colored my hair (not even for halloween) so it's kind of a big deal to me. Do any of my readers have input on what happens if you already have long hair (mine is at my waist right now) and it starts to go gray? Will I end up with like a gray "hat"? AAAAHHHH!!!! I am so too young for this!

Amy, Did you get grey hairs while pregnant? I have with each child but now with my third child they are resistant about staying instead of leaving with the rest of the hairs I'm losing. It's hard having dark hair with grey isn't it? I find that I'm getting them around my ears and they persist to stick straight out of the side of my head. Argh....Find a resolution for all of us Amy!

Dont stress!! It will only cause more...To tell you the truth, it's only as bad as you make it. I actually just got back from the salon 20 minutes ago. It was time for my touch up. I am 25 years old, and believe it or not, I got my first gray hair when I was 17, so I totaly understand the frustration. I now, have a crown of gray hair that peeks its way out every 6 weeks or so... The best thing to do, is make the desicion on what you want to do, and then do it. If you arent ready for that distiguished look, head to the salon and only have your roots done. You never know, this just might be something saying its time for a change :)

Hope it all workd, out. I like to think it only happens to the best of us!

Let it go! It is awesome. My grey came in starting at the crown, and starting when I was about 20. I dyed it for years, with expensive and mixed results. I finally cut it off really short and let it come in. It's about 60% grey now. I bleach one big chunk right where I part it in front as white as possible, so I can feel cool like susan sontag or bonnie raitt.
My husband appears to be aging in reverse, and there's nothing I can do about it except be a hot old lady (42). I feel that it justifies some very cool clothes and boots--I am grey, but not frumpy. i have several friends who've followed suit. It's amusing when we go see my in laws in Palm desert, where no one would dream of being seen with grey hair, and they look haggard and desperate.

When people comments on the gray and white streaks I am getting in front I thank them and tell I have a special colorist.
You could try thinking of it as highlights...and what does it say in Proverbs?
